I’m not saying they’re NECESSARILY the best albums of 2012, but they are certainly my favorites! My obsession with female vocalists might be getting out of hand…
DOWNLOAD: Sharp Corners’ Favorites of 2012 Mix CD
Hop Along- Get Disowned- Hot Green Records My favorite album of 2012!
Waxahatchee- American Weekend- Don Giovanni Records The Waxahatchee album is coming out in January I think. Had it come out this month I’m pretty sure ole katie’d take two spots. (She almost did anyway with Great Thunder, look ‘em up!)
Kittyhawk- Kittyhawk EP- Skeletal Lighting Records Members of Dowsing and Joie de Virve! (but better, at least the song Older/Wiser is the best song between all three bands)
Joyride!- Split w/ Bitpart- Corn Dog Records I haven’t actually heard the Bitpart half of this Split, but not for not trying! The cassette is coming to me soon thank god. The Joyride! part is amazing tho.
Hold Tight!- Blizzard of ’96- Animal Style Records My favorite emo/pop punk album of 2012 w/ no girlies in the band.
Swearin’- Swearin’- Salinas Records Congrats for becoming mad famous in 2012 and touring with Japandroids! This album r00lz!
Dowsing- It’s Still Pretty Terrible- Count Your Lucky Stars Records Always killin’ it every year.
Teen Suicide- DC Snuff Film- Self-Released Of their many releases that came out in 2012, this is my favorite
Butter the Children- Butter the Children- Self-Released Great new band from Brooklyn with members of Sweet Bulbs and Night Manager.
Speedy Ortiz- Sports EP- Exploding in Sound Records This band is GOING PLACES. Y’all rule! Don’t forget the little ppl in MA when you go platinum.
Additional shouts out to Tay Swift and Lana. Love you girls <3<3<3
I can’t believe you put hop along over waxahatchee!
It was a close call. But I felt like Katie would understand, and American Weekend came out sooo long ago. I wore it out too much to make it number one.
haha is it bad that my fave waxahatchee song isn’t even on American Weekend? It’s “Sister Saint” from her split cassette!!!
I can’t deal with the recording on Sister Saint, but I’ve been more into it since I downloaded the Nervous Energies versions
